The Autumn Edit | Beauty

The Autumn Edit | Beauty by alanajwise

Autumn is finally upon us, however the weather is still playing it's mind-games as it's been super warm and sunny the past few days! I thought I would share with you things I have my eye on for the up and coming colder months.

Dusty Rose Inspired Chit Chat Makeup Tutorial | YouTube

Thursday, 24 September 2015
So I'm back with my SECOND YouTube video, and this time I'm talking (cringe..) and it's a super chatty one of the look below. If you decide to watch this, grab yourself some snacks and a cuppa (highly recommended). All products used are listed in the description box of the video!

Odacité Jojoba-Lavender Serum Concentrate | Review

Sunday, 20 September 2015

If you have read my previous post regarding my skin then you will now that my main issue, which I am currently trying to combat is that I suffer with clogged and congested skin. Previous to me trying the Proactiv+ 3 Step System skincare regime, I was on the hunt for something to help reduce/remove my clogged and congested pores.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser | NARSissit

Thursday, 17 September 2015
If you saw my recent NARS haul (you can find it here) you would know that I picked up the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser. I actually bought this online and chose my shade by digging through loads of 'swatch' images via the internet and lucky for me I picked the right shade. I'm in the colour 'Alaska' which I believe is the 3rd lightest shade - so I'm quite pale. 'Alaska' is light with a neutral balance of pink and yellow undertones. I haven't been out in the sun (not that there has been any this summer) so this shade will see me through all of winter.

Proactiv+ Deluxe Core Kit | Introduction to my skin

Wednesday, 9 September 2015
I'm sure you would of all heard of Proactiv+, with brand ambassadors such as Adam Levine and Nicole Scherzinger this company isn't shy of the public eye. Proactiv+ claims to help fight more than just breakouts. It claims to deliver a more radiant and glowing complexion. Something a lot of acne-fighting products don't do. Whilst they get to the source of the blemish, they do not provide ongoing prevention of new breakouts forming and providing hydration at the same time. The Proactiv+ Deluxe Core Kit* is a scientifically advanced 3-Step System and claims to do all those things as well as helping reduce redness, pore size, fade post-blemish marks and even skin tone.

I was kindly sent the Proactiv+ Deluxe Core Kit* to test out for a couple of months. I'm super excited to try the 3-Step System as like most people can possibly relate to, skincare is overwhelming. Skincare is becoming almost as popular as makeup, and the beauty community are there to tell us about all these cult products our local Boots or Superdrug wouldn't host. There are so many products now readily available to us that picking something out for your skin type can become a mammoth task. It can also mean a lot of trial and error, which means a lot of money spent and the possibility of exaggerating the problem. I for one know the hassle of trying to find something that works for me, and I can assure you I have spent my fair share on skincare to not even come close to fixing the problem.

Get Ready With Me | YouTube Video

Sunday, 6 September 2015
So after my first (failed) attempt at a YouTube video, I decided to create another one. Hopefully one of many more to come. I decided I would do a sped up version of myself getting ready, no talking involved, nothing too awkward for myself to handle. The quality isn't the best, and I am planning on getting some lighting and a new lens to film with. If any of you have any recommendations on a lens for a Nikon D3100 then please leave it in the comments below.

And God Created The Woman | NARSissit

Sunday, 9 August 2015

So I decided to have a little splurge last month and treat myself to the 'And God Created The Woman' eyeshadow palette from NARS Cosmetics (you can see my quick haul post here where I first mentioned it). This product retails for £35.00 and includes 6 neutral shadows, a mini Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base and a travel size Wide Contour Brush (43). Be warned, this palette is small! I was so surprised and slightly disappointed (cried when I realised a Naked palette was £4.00 more than this) when I unwrapped the packaging to discover a palette that is comparable in size to their blushes, just a tad longer. I'm not a massive eyeshadow wearer so this palette should last me a good ol' time though - I hope. All that aside, I fell in love with the shades and I knew this would be my new go-to for when I want a pretty smokey eye.

NARS Cosmetics | Haul

Wednesday, 5 August 2015

So last month I treated myself to a couple of items from NARS Cosmetics as I desperate for some tinted moisturiser and after watching Suzie from Hello October rave about this I was adamant on trying the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. As I was never going to go to the nearest department store I scoured the net in search for swatches of the shades. I ended up purchasing the shade 'Alaska'.

Bathroom | Interior Design Series

Sunday, 2 August 2015
So to round this Interior Design Series up I am ending with the bathroom. If you've missed the other posts to the series I will link them down below so you can go check them out!

The bathroom, along with the kitchen I would possibly find the hardest to do as they are more a design thing, or structural type project rather than a decorative type project such as the living room and bedroom would be. If you want to change your bathroom or kitchen you have to rip things out, sort out piping and all that confusing stuff I probably would get someone else to do. A professional might I add, not just Jerry down the road with a couple of spanners. I think when it comes down to the bathroom you can't really cut corners to try and save yourself money if you are redesigning the whole room and I feel it would really benefit to pay for the professional.

I've never been a bath person, having really long thick hair and OCD issues I favour a shower over baths. However, getting older and the fact my parents don't have a bath anymore means I am appreciating a bath every now and again when I can. Nothing beats a steaming hot bubble bath, a glass of red and some candles. Am I right? So my bath needs a good ledge for candles and that oh so important glass of wine. I also want a shower that replicates a waterfall and just drowns me so when I put my head under the water my shampoo is rinsed out immediately!

I'd love a 'his & her' sink just because my razor needs to stay my razor and I do have an abundance of beauty products and I'd need both sides to be able to fit them all on...obviously.

Monochrome Floral | Fashion

Wednesday, 22 July 2015
I'm definitely one for keeping staple pieces in my wardrobe for a long time regardless of whether it was 'last season'. I think things like the below will see you through so many years and all seasons. I love this in the winer with some thick tights, boots and a jumper, but also in the summer as styled below. Whatever the weather black will always be my 'go-to'.

I love the little floral print on the skirt and the zip fastening down the front for detail and actual purpose. It also has pockets for those days you want to be super cool. I picked up these shoes after desperately needing some smart/casual black flats. I haven't quite mastered how to walk in them yet - I know how you must be thinking right now. But I find them every difficult and I almost stomp when I walk in them. How ladylike...

Bedroom | Interior Design Series

Sunday, 19 July 2015
So I'm back with my second to last post on my Interior Design Series. You can view part 1 - Living Room (here) and part 2 - Kitchen (here). This is probably my favourite place in the home; the bedroom. When we get our house I am going to have such a luxurious bedroom, I don't even care. You probably spend most of your time in that room, so for me it's an excuse to make it one of the most extravagant; mirrored furniture, chandelier's - the lot. A lot of my money will go into making my bedroom exactly how I want it.

I love soft greys, taupes and whites. Pretty much how I want the whole house, have you noticed? I just think they are such classy colours; not harsh on the eye and they still open up a room if you use placement correctly. You could even add a touch of black, as shown below which I really love and hadn't ever thought of before.

I couldn't quite find the images to portray how I exactly want it, but it is just some inspiration. None the less the below are some seriously beautiful bedrooms.

Kitchen | Interior Design Series

Sunday, 12 July 2015
So this is the second part to my Interior Design Series - you can view part one here where I talk about what I want in a living room.

Today will be about the kitchen, one of my favourite places in the home because kitchen = food. The below photos are a little extravagant, I know. But a girl can dream. I love a bright kitchen, with white units, wooden floor and lights hanging from the ceiling. My dream kitchen would be a combination of the below 3 - bright, modern with a rustic twist.

I'd love to have an island or breakfast bar to make it a little more of a social area when having people over. Include a luxurious dining table and you have yourself the perfect entertainment room.

Celebrity Look For Less | Fashion

Wednesday, 8 July 2015
If you haven't been inspired by the Kardashians in terms of fashion, you're lying. Especially the beautiful, yet controversial; Kim Kardashian-West. Her style is simplistic, yet elegant (most of the time #nakedkimmy) and I love that she embraces her curves in bodycon!

One of her most loved looks was where she flashed some side boob whilst rocking the side-plait and mid-length skirt. If you don't know what image I'm on about (I'm so good at describing things), see below. I think this was one of my favourite looks.

If you loved this too, but want the look for less then keep scrolling.

Living Room | Interior Design Series

Friday, 8 May 2015
Some of you may or may not know if you follow me on Instagram and Twitter that I am currently saving for a deposit to buy a house with my boyfriend. Since we have started saving and looking at houses I have been obsessed with interior design pages on instagram, twitter, tumblr and pinterest; gaining ideas and inspo from them all. I swear it is more therapeutic than online clothes shopping!

I thought it would be a nice idea to create a series on the different rooms in a house and the inspiration and ideas I'm having for my own place!

In the first set to the series I will be doing the living room - a key place in the home. A socialising area but also an area that should be relaxing, bright and classy.

I am in love with everything neutral - if you didn't know that by now then where have you been?! I've been looking at mainly simple yet chic designs and furniture that are light in colour and easy on the eye. I have also been loving grey and yellow. A colour combination I never thought I would enjoy.

Below are a few interior design pictures I've been absolutely loving for the living room:

My Everyday Make-Up Routine

Step one - Base
So I start off by moisturising my face using the Emma Hardie Amazing Face AM/PM Treatment Moisturiser I wait for that to sink into my skin before I apply my Giorgio Armani Luminouis Silk Foundation in the colour 4.0 - or I use 4.5 when I'm a bit more tanned. I use a variety of different brushes to apply my foundation - I generally use the one that's clean!

Update | Where Have I Been

Monday, 5 January 2015
Well hello strangers. I suddenly dropped off the face of the earth didn't I?! In case you care (probably don't) but I thought I would update you all on my absence and where I am and what you can expect from me in the near future (fingers crossed).

This feels a little weird typing this out - going from writing 2 posts a week to nothing for a good 2 months or so is definitely hard and taking some getting used to again.

As you may know if you follow me on my social media sites like Twitter that I have recently got a new job! It's further away, which means I'm getting home later and I'm having to take in a lot of info and it's very difficult to juggle both at the moment as well as having a bit of a life outside of everything else. The weather - oh god the weather. It's winter, it's dark by like half 4 which means photos are a no go for me at the moment. I am attempting to do more fashion posts on the weekend, so please let me know if you will interested in these and I will probably make more of an effort on those days with my face aha! Christmas and New Year take over everyone's life - mine included.

With all that being said I would like to say that one of my New Years resolutions is to make sure I blog - even if it is just once a week. My lovely boyfriend gifted me a DSLR camera for Christmas so the quality of the photos you will be seeing will be much higher!

I have a very very very busy 2015 with lots of things coming my way. First of all I'm skiing/snowboarding with the company I work for on Wednesday - first time I've ever done either so this could be interesting. I am saving for a house, going to the gym 4/5 days a week, having my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend, turning 21 and so much more. Lets hope I can keep you all updated with everything and keep up with it all myself!

Apologies there are no photos on this post, just wanted to give you all a little update. Let me know in the comments what you would like to see.
