Makeup Geek Shadows | Review & Swatches

Tuesday, 28 October 2014

If there is one thing I'm missing in my eyeshadow collection, it's a good set of matte and autumnal shadow shades. So instead of forking out £10 on MAC's refill palette eyeshadows I headed on over to Makeup Geek's website to buy a tonne (not literally - I had to restrain myself from buying the whole lot so only got 8) of eyeshadows which are a fraction of the price.

50 Shades of Grey Pt. 4 | Fashion Series

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

Let's dress up this series a little bit with this classic style blazer from Topshop. Again, this is a year or so old as I'm all for re-using and re-styling up my old clothes. Funnily enough though, I've never worn this *hides face in hands* - but what a perfect time to get it out of the wardrobe and hopefully get some wear out of it this season.

Job Interviews | My Tips

Monday, 20 October 2014

Today's post is a little different from my beauty or fashion posts but is pretty relevant to my life at the moment, so I thought I would share with you some tips on how to interview. I'm no expert nor am I even good at interviewing - probably shouldn't be doing this post you might think? Well yes, I thought so too but out of the 6 jobs I've interviewed for, I've got 5. Not too bad I'd say for a 20 year old who's nerves are on the scale ridiculous.

50 Shades of Grey Pt. 3 | Fashion Series

Wednesday, 15 October 2014

Onto part 3 of my Fashion Series '50 Shades of Grey' - if you haven't seen the others I will link them here and here which are parts 1 and 2. If you haven't guessed my theme yet, I'm going through my grey wardrobe staples. I love that it's getting a little colder now, and grey is definitely in this season! So all my purchases over the years of grey items haven't gone to waste. I will be getting so much wear out of all of these items come this Autumn/Winter.

TMI Tag | My First YouTube Video

Tuesday, 14 October 2014
Okay guys, I did it! AHHHH. Probably the scariest and most awkward thing I've done in my life. I swear it's worse than when you had to stand up in front of the classroom preparing to read your essay on Shakespeare?! I thought I would do the TMI Tag to start off with after seeing so many on YouTube. I know the quality isn't amazing but we will get there - stay strong! It's a nice little introduction to my channel where you can get to know me a little bit more!

Please appreciate that I am very nervous so if questions were just 'yes or no' it's because I couldn't say much else.

Any feedback is greatly welcomed, please comment below, on my channel or tweet me @alanajadewise. Give the video a thumbs up if you liked it and subscribe for more videos from me!

50 Shades of Grey Pt. 2 | Fashion Series

Wednesday, 8 October 2014

Next up on the 50 Shades of Grey fashion series is this gorgeous blouse with floral print on it. I think everyone needs a really nice blouse in their wardrobe. This is perfect for me as it has the three-quarter length sleeves which means it appears less frumpy on my small frame. The pattern of this is truly gorgeous and I love all the shades of grey. It's definitely a blouse that can be dressed up or down, which is why it's such a staple to have in your wardrobe. The back of the blouse has a split up the back which adds a nice twist to it, it doesn't show your back though unless you're stretching.

How to Make Your Lips Appear Fuller | Top Tips

Monday, 6 October 2014

We weren't all blessed with gorgeous full lips but we can now fake them with a few helpful tips and tricks that mean you won't have to go under the needle to get the lips you lust after.

I like many girls crave bigger lips, although mine aren't tiny I do wish they were a little more 'juicy'. Everyone is going crazy over Kylie Jenner and her new lips (which FYI are definitely lip fillers) so I thought I would show you my top tips on how I make my lips appear fuller.

50 Shades of Grey | Fashion Series

Wednesday, 1 October 2014
So it's the 1st of October, Autumn is here and here I am still stuck in my grey, white and black colours. Will there be a time when I venture into much else in the fashion department? Probably not.

I decided to start my own 'fashion series' if you like called '50 Shades of Grey' - which will basically be a selection of posts on Wednesdays of my grey picks, or grey A/W outfits. Let me know if you like this idea and I may do more.

*Apologies for the quality of the photos, I took these myself and after work when it was slightly cloudy.

September Beauty Favourites

Monday, 29 September 2014

Is there not a way we can slow down time or stop it altogether? Let's bring back Bernard's Watch (90's kids will know) but for real this time! October is quickly dawning on us, autumn is here, berry, copper, red tones and metallics are back, and it's quickly becoming that time of year when Starbuck's bring out their Christmasy drinks. Make. It. Stop.

All About My Brows | Semi-Permanent Addition

Monday, 22 September 2014
This post is dedicated entirely to my brows - yes my brows. Not in the sense that I am particularly proud of my brows but let me ramble on to you why you shouldn't make the same mistakes as me..

When I was younger (still young, just my excuse) I like(d) to make mistakes. I liked to get permanent things imprinted on my skin - tattoos. At the tender age of 16 I got my first tattoo, the only tattoo I regret and am currently in the process of removing. What.A.Nutter. Yes. Not recommended in the slightest, but I thought I was cool. This is where it all started.

Rimmel Scandaleyes & Velour Lashes

Wednesday, 10 September 2014
You may remember if you follow me on social media and saw my Ardell Demi Wispies post I was seriously complaining about not being able to find the 'perfect' lashes. Well, I took a hit, emptied my bank balance (not literally) and treated myself to the Velour Lashes in 'Strike a Pose' - $35. I never wanted to spend so much on lashes but I was attending a wedding and had heard so many amazing reviews that I just had to. I bought these ones after seeing Jaclyn Hill's YouTube video of her using them in her bridal tutorial and instantly fell in love. I've come to the conclusion that tapered eyelashes such as the Ardell Demi Wispies don't suit me and I need a full lash that's consistent in length through the middle.

They completely open up my eyes and transform any look into something truly glamorous. I've only worn these a couple of times so don't know how long these do last, however they claim you can wear them for up to 25 times providing you care for them correctly. I wore these with my Duo lash glue for a number of 15 hours on the wedding day (party nutta and also not recommended) but they felt so comfortable on the lash and stayed put throughout with no need to top up my glue. No drunken attempts at trying to reapply lashes in the dark toilets. Magic.

Starting a YouTube Channel?!

Friday, 5 September 2014
It has definitely been something I've wanted to do for a long time, yet haven't had the confidence to post the videos. I feel that blogging and YouTube come as a package and I want to be able to express myself further and let you get to know me a little more. Let me tell you now, they won't be amazing quality to start but I will get there slowly, please bare with me for the time being.

I want ideas!! Leave me comments below on what you want to see from me and I will do my best to get them done for you. You can subscribe with the button in the sidebar so you don't miss a thing and I will obviously keep you updated through here and on my social media sites, so if you don't follow me on them make sure you are.

I have a lovely friend who blogs also: Megan, who I have spoken to and she is also planning on setting up a channel where we thought we could do some collab videos so leave those ideas below if you want to see some from us! Thank you for all your support and welcoming me into the blogging world. I'm still a newbie so I still make mistakes but that's what makes us human!

Make Up Rumours | Review

Monday, 1 September 2014
I'd heard of Make Up Rumours via Twitter and when they were looking for beauty bloggers I jumped at the chance. I was sent some products to review and I also bought a few products to add to the collection just so I could show you more, I can't remember what was sent and what I bought but the total is around £18 and that includes P&P.

Make Up Rumours is an online retailer for Pink Cosmetics London Ltd who provide a huge range of make up products from just £1. All of you girls who are on a budget then listen up! Stay till the end for a cheeky voucher code too.

Pink Tease Pressed Powder - Nude* - £1.00 this shade is slightly too light for me at the moment but for a light dusting just to set foundation it does the job as a powder would. They have 3 colours, although they don't differ much in colour. The texture is a little chalky when I swatched it here however when applied to the face on a brush it's fine, although there is a fair bit of fall out. But can you really go wrong with a £1.00 pressed powder? I just have this in my make up bag I carry around with me for top ups during the day and I have no worry of it breaking.

A Day in Rome

A Day in Rome

Mango white top
£36 - mango.com

MiH Jeans skinny jeans
£185 - my-wardrobe.com

£40 - asos.com

Accessorize tan satchel bag
£41- accessorize.com

Vince camuto eyewear
£42 - vincecamuto.com

Levi s levi hat
£23 - levi.com

I picked this outfit because I think it would be gorgeous to wear around a city. I can imagine myself going to a place like Rome (hence 'A Day in Rome') and wondering around all the ruins. The shoes and back pack are for practicality but also look really great on and it just brings everything together.

Let me know what you think!

3.1 Phillip Lim ankle boots
£405 - lanecrawford.com

Mango long strap purse
£54 - mango.com

I've recently joined Polyvore and I'm literally obsessed. If you have it follow me on the link above! It will make creating outfits so easy now - and I will eventually be posting me wearing outfits, but this is when I have time to go outside and shoot it with someone. Also a confidence issue but we'll get passed that eventually.

I can't wait for Autumn, I think it's my favourite season. I love jumpers and boots and that time of year I don't feel so stupid for wearing black all the time.

Skinade | Why I Stopped

Wednesday, 13 August 2014

You may remember a while back I posted a review on Skinade (link here). Since then I've had several questions regarding Skinade and if I still use it. So I'm writing this post to address the question you've been asking. The answer as to whether I still use it is no and I'll tell you why..

The post I did back then was a review on my experience with Skinade so far - I had the 25 day course and I created the post within 2 weeks of using to tell you the changes I had had. I paid for Skinade with my own money and therefore you should not think that my opinion was altered in any way in that review - and regardless of whether I get sent a product my opinion is always 100% honest. I want to strongly put that across to you as a lot of people assume that when you get sponsored posts or sent items for review that you are misguided because of this. However, every PR company should already know that if a product isn't up to expectations we will say so, bearing in mind that what may work for me might not work for you and vice versa. I can only say my experiences and try to be as helpful as I can. If you had bought Skinade because of my review then please let me know how you got on because I would love to know.

Battle of the Falsh Lash Effect Mascara | Highend vs Drugstore

Monday, 11 August 2014

Mascara is one of those things I can not live without. If I had to choose one product to wear for the rest of my life it would have to be mascara. It can transform any face or any make-up look but it can also make or break a look - spider legs are not O.K. Mascara is the only product I buy at the drugstore - and what I mean is I have several foundations, lipsticks etc but they are mainly high end with a couple of drugstore products mixed in, but I only have drugstore mascara and I will forever have drugstore mascara. I can tell this post is already going to be very controversial because of the huge love for the product but let me tell you why anyway..

Nude Delight

Friday, 8 August 2014

Although I love my monochrome, I have a little obsession with nude. My outfits are very simple in that sense - it might not be what the trends are, but I love it. I've always been told to wear what I'm comfortable in, and if dungarees aren't your thing and you'd rather wear a pencil skirt or trackies then so be it. I can guarantee you'll stand out more when you wear something you're comfortable in rather than trying to fit into the crowd.

Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Sling Patent  - £625.00. I'm lucky enough to have a very generous boyfriend and I am now the proud owner of the Pigalle Patent Christian Louboutins. Don't ever think this will satisfy you though. It's like some crazy addiction and once you have one pair you need more. These gorgeous heels admittedly will break my neck the second I stand up in them but who needs a neck when you have these, right?

Agent Provocateur Darla Nude Lingerie Set - I'm unsure of how much this is because this is an old season set. Needless to say, it is gorgeous and you can not beat a good lingerie set. I'm sure you can find something similar online. I know I'll be searching high and low!

Topshop Saffiano Tote Bag - £36.00. I really love simple bags. However, they always have to be the size of a house to fit unnecessary things in, of course. I love this one and I think it will be a great addition to anyones wardrobe as it will fit in with most outfits.

Missguided Beatie Strappy Lace Bralet - £14.99. Missguided are really killing it this season with their bralets and crop tops as I'm sure you've seen all over the fashion blogger community. I've been after a few for a while now, but bills come first sadly. This would definitely be a night out piece for me, and I would team it with the skirt and nude strappy heels!

Missguided Candace Scuba Midi Skirt in Nude - £9.99. At such a great price you can't really go wrong. Dress it up or dress it down it's an extremely versatile piece to have in your wardrobe this year. I work in an office and during the hotter months this type of thing is great if you don't want to flash too much flesh!

What are your nude favourites? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to check them out.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION | Review & Makeup Look

Monday, 4 August 2014
The post that was supposed to go up last week... The absolute struggle! Finally it is here though so grab a cuppa, make yourself comfy and continue reading on...

Some of you may of heard about Makeup Revolution already, I hadn't until they became an absolute storm in the blogging community. Everyone is raving about them and I can now see why.

I believe there is always room for a new beauty brand. There is always something one brand is missing or doesn't quite meet up to our now very high standards. Especially in the drugstore and high-street make-up brands - they just don't quite satisfy our needs. I know they don't satisfy my needs. Why? Because there is nothing better for me than to go and get a luxurious eyeshadow palette with pigmented shadows and a great colour selection. Maybe that's just me and maybe I'm a snob in that sense but I can honestly say before Makeup Revolution I was a drugstore eyeshadow palette virgin - uh huh guilty. I didn't even have single eyeshadows from the drugstore. The reason for this is probably because there aren't any drugstore or high-street makeup brands that have tempted me enough to buy such palettes, and to be honest there are very few with a good enough content in my eyes to call a palette.

Bella and Bear Beauty - Hair She Goes Hair Removal Kit | Review

Tuesday, 29 July 2014
Hello dolls! Today's post I will be reviewing the Bella and Bear Beauty Hair She Goes Hair Removal Kit* which was kindly gifted to me by the lovely ladies over Bella and Bear Beauty who are an Amazon based company. I do hope they expand further because the product is so gorgeously presented and very unique.

Currently on sale at £17.99 plus my 25% off!

Monochrome Wishlist

Friday, 25 July 2014

These are all black & white goodies that I'm currently lusting over. Aren't they gorgeous?

No matter the weather I always stay true to my roots - monochrome. Monochrome is one of those staple looks that will never ever go out of fashion. Everyone can rock it and it's personally one of my fav looks to create - regardless of season. I'm one of those girls you see wearing black in the summer!

Missguided Dorla Premium Crochet Lace Bralet is something I've wanted to get for ages, although fairly inexpensive at £24.99 I keep holding back because of sizing issues! I think I'll bite the bullet soon and just get it, it's too pretty not to!

Mulberry Bayswater Buckle in Black Shrunken Calf with Nickel - if you're a typical girl like me you may constantly lust over Mulberry bags and dream of eventually owning one. This one here is gorgeous and will suit all year round, so at £1,200 I think it's justafiable? My boyfriend will probably disagree on that one. One day...

River Island Black and White Dogtooth Cigarette Trousers - these trousers are so classy especially if you teamed them with some gorgeous 'barely there' heels and big sunnies. At £40 you can't really go wrong with these tailored beauties.

River Island White Platform Barely There Sandals  - now these are everything, I'm obsessed and have had my eye on them for ages. I really love this type of heel at the moment, although incredibly uncomfy you can't beat how they look! £50 is a steal for me for these staples.

Triangl Winnie - Holli Hyde - if you haven't heard of 'Triangl' where have you been?! Their swimsuits and underwear sets are all over the blogging community and Instagram, and I can't help but lust over this little beauty. I love the bandeau style bikini and this print is to die for. $89 (which is £52.39) is a little hefty for a bikini, but the reviews prove they are completely worth the money and are a must for your holidays this year! I want it now...

What are your monochrome favourites?

Taking Flight with Ardell Demi Wispies

Tuesday, 22 July 2014
Hi lovelies - I was meant to post yesterday (my usual blogging day) but the make-up look I created was ruined by a pair of false lashes. Now I'm more into my blogging I thought I would start using lashes as they do make your make-up transform into something more 'va va voomie'. I'm currently in the process of finding the 'perfect lash' for me, and I'm yet to find some. I was so upset the way it made my make-up look last night I decided not to post it as I couldn't get any nice close-ups of the pretty eye make-up. A whole lotta make-up wasted and a hella lot of time wasted too. Today I decided I would post some selfies I did take that didn't look too bad and give you my thoughts on the lashes I used. I just couldn't waste the look (majority of)!

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint | Review

Monday, 14 July 2014
Hello beauties.. Happy Monday, and happy blogging day! Today's post is going to be about a little re-discovery I had - the 'Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint'. If you haven't been hiding under a rock somewhere you might of heard about the ever so raved about 'Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser' around the beauty community sights. I did years ago and that led me to purchasing such product. I believe that when I bought the cleanser along with the toner and moisturiser set I got a free gift, now this free gift was a full size product of the 'Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint' (Liz Earle always have offers on - this was one that was on at the time). Now I was more than happy to receive such a gift but once I had got it, it got used a couple of times and discarded to the bottom of my drawer because I disliked it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit | Review

Monday, 7 July 2014
Hi my loves.. So literally since I saw it on Instagram or YouTube (I forgot which, most likely both) I NEEDED, and when I say 'needed'... I needed the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. Like umm who wouldn't? You'd be silly not to. It's got the perfect shades to create and define those cheekbones. Want to look like a Victoria's Secret Model? Get this.

My New 'Go To' Lipstick | Shanghai Spice

Wednesday, 25 June 2014
Hey dolls.. I thought I'd new a quick mid-week post for you all. I recently had a little splurge at MAC the other week and if you follow me on Instagram you would of seen the lipstick swatches I had posted of the lipsticks I purchased.

I have discovered a new favourite lipstick; 'Shanghai Spice' from my collection which has quickly become my 'go to' lip product, and one I find reaching continuously for when I do my make-up for work, or I want to have a fairly natural face that day.

SKINADE | Review

Monday, 23 June 2014
Hello girls! Today's post I wanted to talk to you all about a drink I've been trying along with my new skincare routine (post to follow) - Skinade. So if you follow me on Instagram you would of seen a photo I posted of myself holding a bottle of Skinade. I've been trailing it for a couple of weeks now and I thought I would do a review and give you some further information on the drink.

Bold Eyes & Lips | Make-up Look

Thursday, 12 June 2014
Hello lovelies! I know I've been slacking recently on blogging (I'm sorry :(), but I've finally got the internet back and there is also a computer I can use..winner! I've also been super super busy at work and trying to juggle everything has been super cray. But I've got lots of blog post ideas I want to do over the next few weeks and hopefully I can get them done for you. I'm currently trying to get some editing software to use on this laptop so until then photos are unedited ;)..

Now to get on with my post today..

I posted an eyeliner look on my Instagram a little while ago and I said I will post about it soon. Eyeliner is literally the bane of my life.. I can't stress enough to my boyfriend how frustrating it is to get it just right (you girls know!). So I try to conquer it in anyway I can.. I literally spend hours in my bedroom after work and just create looks and try different methods of applying eyeliner. I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of it. In no means is it immaculate and it isn't anything compared to some MUA's but I love it and it took me ages. It's a little different ya know.

Hi dolls.. It's getting to that time of year again where the weather is hotter and colours get brighter and more vibrant! It's the same with make-up and you can never ever go wrong with a bright lip in the summer. My go-to make up look for summer is a really glowy dewy base, bronzed up and a coral blush with a subtle eye - just lots of mascara and a bright lip. And it takes no time at all... Effortless beauty - easy!

So I've put together my summer lipstick essentials with swatches for you guys..
